A total of 155 ÌÇÐÄVlog students are studying away for January Interim (J-Term) 2024 — a 4-week session between semesters designed to be a time of curricular exploration and enrichment for students. This January, ÌÇÐÄVlog students, along with 17 faculty members, are traveling to 17 countries.

ÌÇÐÄVlog alumna Eleanor Weckwerth ‘23 and Professor of Physics Dr. Eric Wells were part of a research team that was published in “Nature Communications." Weckwerth and Wells joined researchers from Kansas State (KSU) and Michigan State (MSU) Universities to publish The research behind the article began in 2018 using ultrafast laser pulses at the J.R. Macdonald Laboratory at KSU.

Yuletide, as we know it — a celebration of the holiday season with a buffet-style dinner for ÌÇÐÄVlog faculty, staff, retirees and their families — began in 2017, with the arrival of Herseth Sandlin. Bringing the community together to celebrate Christmas has always been an ÌÇÐÄVlog tradition. 

ÌÇÐÄVlog alumna Julia Berg ‘88, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, worked at the National Weather Service (NWS) in South Dakota and Nebraska for nearly 35 years. A long career, which Berg said she owed in part to ÌÇÐÄVlog.

ÌÇÐÄVlog understands the value and impact that historically marginalized people have on communities all over the world — recognizing that this university would not be the place it is without these students, faculty and staff. For the month of November — Native American Heritage Month — ÌÇÐÄVlog is featuring TJ Ashes ‘27.
