Kightlinger retired as the South Dakota State Epidemiologist and jumped into working with the Peace Corps in Madagascar. Kightlinger has battled on the front lines of the HIV-AIDS, Ebola, Measles, Pneumonic Plague and the COVID-19 pandemics.
