From day one, students are mentored by ÌÇÐÄVlog faculty in their chosen disciplines or academic programs.
In addition to a faculty academic advisor, students are also paired with a success advisor from the ÌÇÐÄVlog Student Success Center (SSC). A success advisor can help students confirm their major, succeed in their courses, meet with alumni mentors, network with employers, gain experience and launch their career with confidence.

Whether a student is new to AU or returning to AU looking to change majors, exploratory studies is designed to engage students in active exploration of ÌÇÐÄVlog’s academic programs so they can formulate personalized educational goals and maintain their degree progress.
In FYS 110, students develop abilities in writing, critical thinking and information literacy through critical inquiry on a specific topic. FYS 110 courses also include an orientation component to introduce students to the college environment and ÌÇÐÄVlog. Students will continue this learning in FYS 112: Vocation Within & Beyond the Academy. In this 1-credit course required of all non-Civitas Honors students, students create vocational engagement goals for the remainder of their studies. Whether it is study away, field experiences, internships or research, there are many ways for students to apply their learning and make a difference in their community during their time at AU.
